Minecraft’s New Copper Update: Copper Golem, Tools, and More!

Minecraft’s latest Preview 1.21.100.23 is here, and it’s all about copper! This update brings a cute copper golem, copper chests, and new copper tools, weapons, and armor. It’s available to test now in Bedrock Edition, with Java Edition snapshots coming soon.
Meet the Copper Golem

The copper golem is a friendly new mob that helps keep your items organized. You make it by placing a carved pumpkin on a copper block. When it spawns, it comes with a copper chest. The golem picks up items from this chest and sorts them into other chests nearby, stacking them neatly. It’s like having a helper who loves to tidy up! Over time, the golem’s copper body gets a cool green patina, but you can wax it to keep it shiny. If it gets defeated, it drops 1–3 copper ingots.

Copper Chests
Copper chests are special. They don’t just hold items they work with the copper golem to sort them. Put items in a copper chest, and the golem will move them to other chests by item type. You can let the chest oxidize for a green look or wax it to stay shiny. These chests are both useful and pretty for your base!
Copper Tools, Weapons, and Armor

Copper is now more than just a building block. You can craft tools, weapons, and armor with it! These are stronger than stone but weaker than iron, making them perfect for early in the game. For example, a copper pickaxe mines faster than stone but can’t break tough stuff like diamond. This makes early adventures easier and safer since copper is easy to find in caves.
How to Try It
You can test these features in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s beta or preview on Xbox, Windows 10/11, iOS, or Android (via Google Play). Turn on the Experimental Features option in your world settings to start. Since it’s a test version, there might be bugs, so save a backup of your world. Mojang wants your feedback, so share ideas at feedback.minecraft.net or report bugs at bugs.mojang.com.
Why It’s Awesome
This update makes copper super useful! The copper golem helps keep your base tidy, and copper tools make early mining easier. Plus, copper’s cool look adds style to your builds. It’s great for new players and anyone who loves organizing or decorating.
