Shaders

Complementary Reimagined Shaders | 1.20 – 1.12

Complementary Reimagined is a shader pack that aims to bring perfection to Minecraft when it comes to visual features. These shaders are truly a masterpiece. It aims to be the perfect representation of vanilla Minecraft in terms of realism. Its attention to detail is unparalleled, from light reflection to shadow accuracy. This shader is in a league of its own in terms of quality and playability. This shader also supports PBR, so you can expect maximum realism.

Complementary Reimagined stays true to Vanilla

The Complementary Reimagined shader focuses on simplifying and improving the original. This shader showcases improved aesthetics while allowing low-end PCs to run it better.

This shader also goals to be more faithful to vanilla Minecraft by removing some elements that stray too much from the original. For example, the default sun in the reimagined version stays square instead of it being a circle. The clouds in this shader also retained their rectangular block shape instead of the realistic cloud formations found in the original Complementary shaders.

Accuracy and attention to details

One of the most notable improvements that the Complementary Reimagined shader possesses is the accuracy of the reflected and refracted beams that come through windows and cave openings. Standing in front of one under either a window or a cave opening would surely give you a “heavenly” atmosphere. This refracted light is also represented more accurately underwater. In the original Complementary shader, light scatters wider giving an unrealistic feel, while in the Reimagined version, you’ll notice how water bends the light rays more accurately.

Colored lighting with Rethinking Voxels Shaders

The color hues in this shader have also been dulled down a bit in order to complement vanilla Minecraft. Mystical places such as the nether and end dimension were given more vivid hues, which strengthened their mystical atmosphere. Biomes and villages feel more realistic because of the tweaks in lighting. Compared to Rethinking Voxels Shaders, there are a few features Reimagined does not have. It doesn’t have advanced light propagation and colour lighting, for instance.

The Complementary Reimagined Shaders bring a lot of good elements that’ll surely entice any player to use shaders while playing, regardless of their PC setup. But be reminded that this shader only works in Minecraft 1.20.2 by installing the Iris Shaders mod. You can find the instructions on how to install this mod here.

Aurora Borealis

With update r1.2.1 of the Reimagined shaders, a new natural phenomenon can be observed in the night sky. The update adds aurora borealis, or northern lights, to your Minecraft worlds. Whilst this looks amazing, it can be difficult to observe, as by default it only occurs in snowy biomes during a full moon.
